Visit the Alcazaba in Malaga and have Tapas in the nearby bar Pipitos?)

Helle Hollis writes:

Alcazaba is a Moorish fortification built on a hill in the center of Málaga. It was built mostly in the 11th century and was the palace of the city's governing Muslims. The opening hours are in summertime 9:30 to 20:00. In winther 8:30 to 19:00. Summer and winther time change along with the oficial time of change between summer and winther. Closed mondays, 1st of January, 28th of February and 25th of December.

There does exist a bar called "Pipitos" near Alcazaba (or perhaps it´s called "Pepitos"), however "Bodega El Pimpi" (also right next to Alcazaba) is definitely worth a visit. It´s famous allover Málaga and is still an authentic Spanish bodega with simple but delicious food and big barrels inside.

Benahavis is full of good restaurants and a pleasant atmosphere for a Sunday lunch.

Get away from the tourist areas, go inland, see the real Spain. Eat Spanish food in Spanish restuarants. Buy what the locals buy.

El Chorro og El Torcal er helt klart steder man skal besøge. Ligeledes bør man ved besøg i Ronda tage turen omkring Zahara de la Sierra. En tur til Trevelez er heller ikke at foragte:-) Men prøv de 2 andre ture først.

"El chorro" is a limestore gorge through which passes the Guadalhorce river. The area has been protected by "Junta de Andalucia" since 1989 because of its ecological, historical and palaeontological value and is definitely worth a visit. "El Chorro" is especially known for "El camino del Rey" which is a path known to be very dangerous. At the moment it is in a highly dangerous state and it is now prohibited to do the walk though local climbers still climb there. For several years reconstructions have been requiered, however it´s just now that the work has actually started.

"El Torcal" is a natural park reserve south of the town of Antequera in the province of Málaga. It is located in the mountains "Sierra el Torcal" and is known for its karst landscapes and the beauty of these. Also it has a great variety of wildflowers.

One has to see the Alhambra, of course. But a few kilometers away, in the village Fuentevaqueros, is the birtplace of Federico Garcia Lorca, which has been turned into a very charming and interesting museum. If you are interested in Spanish history or literature, you should visit this museum.
